This is a 6-hour (12 PM - 6 PM) 300 round course for those who:

  • Have at least intermediate level firearms experience
  • Possess consistent and ingrained safe gun handling technique
  • Have received multiple sessions of qualified, relevant instruction
  • Train independently to enhance proficiency
  • In short, this is not a beginner level course

This course will take place at The Firing Pin, an indoor range located at 8240 Buffalo Rd, Bergen, NY 14416.

Our Low Light Pistol Course educates students on the advanced skill of effectively employing a pistol in low light environments using a handheld and/or weapon-mounted light. We will guide you through the mechanical skills and special considerations related to handgun use when little to no light is present.

A bagged lunch and notetaking materials are recommended for this course.

We will address:

  • Selection of low light equipment
  • Effectively drawing your pistol, activating your white light system (both weapon mounted and handheld), and placing accurate hits on target
  • Movement/shooting on the move when fighting using white light
  • Your relationship with cover and concealment in low light conditions
  • Understanding photonic barriers
  • Other related concepts and skills

This course of instruction will last 6 hours and require 300 rounds of pistol ammunition. To prolong the safe service life of our indoor range and target system, please bring only common full metal jacket handgun ammunition to this course.

You must have:

  • Serviceable semi-auto fighting handgun chambered in 9 MM, 40 S&W, or 45 ACP (no subcompacts/revolvers/.22 LR)
  • Quality inside or outside the waistband holster (for safety reasons, NO UNIVERSAL FIT/“Uncle Mike’s” type nylon and/or leather holsters that collapse when the gun is drawn will be permitted)
  • Weapon mounted and/or handheld white light (if you have a weapon mounted light, you will benefit from also training with a handheld light for a portion of this course)
  • 300 rounds of ammunition (again, please bring only common full metal jacket handgun ammunition to this course)
  • Hearing and eye protection (electronic hearing protection preferred so you can hear range commands)
  • Appropriate footwear and attire for range movement
  • An open heart and mind

Registration & Payment:

All courses of instruction require pre-payment at the time of registration. Because student space is limited, courses are filled on a first come, first paid basis. Should First Line Defense cancel this course, our staff will contact you to determine if you desire a full refund of your payment or rescheduling for a different date/time. Otherwise, your payment is 100% NON-refundable.

If you’re worried about potential exposure to COVID-1984 and expecting a full refund to avoid contact with whatever the “deadly” variant du jour happens to be, please do NOT register for instruction with us. Fear of COVID-1984 is not a valid reason for a refund of any kind. Providing such a refund would not be healthy for our business and would hamper the effective learning environment we strive to create in which individuals are comfortable being around one another.

Expansion of the martial culture must continue and it’s your decision to participate or not. See you out there.
